Successfully implement Master Data Services (MDS)
Master Data Management (MDM) is a set of processes and tools and in the release of SQL Server 2008 R2 (SS2008R2) Microsoft has added such a tool to manage master data, namely Master Data Services (MDS). In SQL Server 2012 (SS2012), MDS will be more mature and more suitable for business usage and in combination with Data Quality Services (DQS) it’s the ideal solution to manage your master data. During the implementation of MDS you will encounter a lot of challenges. After going through a high-level description of MDM and MDS, I will give you practical tips and examples that can help you with a successful implementation of MDS at your client. I will show you how to migrate MDS to the new SS2012 version and point out what the most interesting improvements are. I will conclude the session with a real-life demo where MDS is integrated with a source system by SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and the data is cleansed by DQS.
